The artist pursues an active concert career. In Lausanne she has successfully sung the alto part in the St. John Passion, the St. Matthew Passion and the Mass in B minor by J.S. Bach. She also appeared in L. Janacek’s “Diary of a Lost Man” and sang F. Martin’s “Der Cornet” in concerts performed in various Swiss chamber music series. Karin Richter regularly performs with Jean-Christophe Geiser, titular organist of the Cathedral in Lausanne, in various recital programmes in Switzerland and abroad.

About me

Karin Richter comes from Bern. She completed her music studies at the Bern University of the Arts. She continued her education at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne, where she received a Premier Prix de Virtuosité.Already during her studies she performed as a soloist in numerous concerts and gained various stage experiences. At the ‘Werdenberger Schlossfestspiele’ she sings ‘Frau Reich’ in “Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor” by Otto Nicolai, ‘Mercedes’ in Georges Bizet’s “Carmen”. At the Opéra de Fribourg she appears as ‘Cherubino’ in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro”.As a long-standing member of the Swiss Chamber Choir and the Zurich Singakademie, Karin Richter sang in many renowned concerts at the Tonhalle Zurich, at the Lucerne Festival and abroad, especially under the direction of D. Barenboïm, C. Abbado, D. Zinman and S. Rattle.
