About me

Eleonora Ligabò began studying the harp at the age of 4 with Prof. Lorenza Pollini. At the age of 6, she performed in the theatre of Villafranca di Verona for a concert of young harpists supervised by the famous harpist Prof. Mirella Vita, who reviewed Eleonora’s sound as ‘an angelic touch’. At the age of 11 she entered the conservatory “E.F.Dall’Abaco” in Verona winning first place for the class of harp and viola da gamba and second for cello, choosing however to continue her harp career and studying for six years with Prof. Nazarena Recchia. He then moved to Brescia to the ‘Luca Marenzio’ Conservatory and completed his studies with Prof. Anna Loro, one of today’s most highly regarded harpists. He graduated with her, receiving compliments from the famous Maestro Benedetti Michelangeli. He furthered his studies in pedal harp with Prof. Elizabeth Fontan-Binoche and Prof. Silvie Laforge, in Celtic harp with Prof. Grainne Hambly, Prof. Catriona McKay, Prof. Catherine Rhatingan, Prof. Màire Nì Chathasaigh and M° Park Stickney (Jazz harp) and in electric harp.
Immediately after graduating in 2003, she was called by the ‘Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana’ in Lugano to teach harp. In Lugano she graduated in Musical Pedagogy with a “very good” mention and began a professional career as a teacher (“Jardin Musical” in Lugano and Bellinzona 2005 to 2018, “Scuola di musica Tre Valli” Biaschese section a.s. 2003/2010, “La Nuova Musica” in Lugano a.s.2006/2007), as a concert soloist and in collaboration with “Orchestra da Camera” in Lugano, “Orchestra fiati della Svizzera Italiana” and “Orchestra del ‘900”. Also at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in May 2009, he graduated in ‘Elementary Music Education’.
In Verona she held the chair of harp, one of the very few Celtic harp classes in Italy recognised by the Ministry of Education, at the “S.Martinelli” Academy in Sandrà di Castelnuovo del Garda from 2004 to 2009. From 2006 to 2009 he was part of the Accademia’s Pilot Group. Also in Verona, she collaborated with Matteo Bellini’s ‘Jazz Orchestra’, which plays for Sky TV. She has appeared in several TV programmes on RAI and Mediaset during “DISMA”, one of the largest and most popular music fairs, and was invited to the TV programme “Rivediamoci…”, broadcast on La9 and Sky, to present her electronic harp project and as commentator for the songs of the “S.Remo” final.
She also performs as a soloist, in chamber, light, blues and jazz music groups and medieval music groups. Since 2006, she has been working on a harp propaedeutics project with children aged 2 to 6. Since 2009, she has been holding courses on ‘Music in Pregnancy’, ‘Baby Music’ and ‘Parent-Child’ . In 2010, she held the course “Nascere e crescere con la musica”, a course for adults sponsored by Canton Ticino.
From 2011 to 2017 she was Head of Marketing for the Jardin Musical school for the Lugano, Bellinzona and Morbio Inferiore sites. In 2017 she founded Mixolydia Eventi Sagl, a company with which she creates private, public and music school-related events, harp festivals (in 2018 she was Artistic Curator of the Swiss Harp Festival). In 2019 she founded Switzerland’s first Harp Center in Lugano: a harp school with the sale of instruments and accessories and with academic and amateur courses in Celtic, classical and electric harp. He edited the graphic elaboration of J.S.Bach’s “Allemande”, transcribed for harp by Prof. Anna Loro and printed by the publishing house “Salvi Harps”.
